Class time: 6-8 pm
Class location: solar7.83 design studio and Launchbox located at 124 SW Yamhill, 2nd floor.

A field trip TBA will be decided upon in class

In this class you will be able to design using a solar chart, calculate heat gain and loss, thermal mass and insulation alternatives including strawbale ideas. Example projects such as the gonzo (an earthsheltered strawbale shelter operating completely on solar power, including a composting toilet, radiant floor heating, and solar shower and hot tub) will be discussed. Prior experience or previous knowledge is not necessary.

Instructor Candace Gossen, principal of solar7.83 design studio, specializes in ecological design and consulting.

$75 fee payable to instructor at class meeting
